We called them HALTS:

Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired, or Stressed.

But today, let’s go deeper.

Because the truth is:

It’s not always the big stuff that gets you.

Sometimes, it’s the small, sneaky things.

The minor triggers.

They seem harmless. Normal. Ordinary.

But because addiction attaches itself to your lifestyle, even your everyday routines can quietly pull you back into temptation—especially if they were once part of how you fell.

🎯 For me, it was things like:

Turning off the lights.

Pulling down the blinds.

Opening Google Chrome.

Holding in a pee for too long.

Certain times of the day—especially night-time, just before bed.

These were the quiet places where temptation used to sneak in.

Even when I wasn’t actively thinking about porn, my body remembered.

My mind associated those actions and places with old habits.

And I’d feel that tension in my stomach—the familiar trigger creeping in.

Maybe yours is different.

Maybe it’s a certain scent, a kind of dress, or even a specific TV show.

For someone else I counselled, it was being naked for too long.

Another brother told me that while bathing, anytime his hand touched his private parts, he would feel aroused. But then God taught him something so simple and so powerful:

“As long as you lift your hands in worship to the King, your hand won’t go back down.”

And it worked.

That moment—what once brought shame—became a cue to worship God and find joy in His presence.

That’s what freedom can look like. Turning a trigger into a reminder of God’s goodness.

The Bible says the devil is like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

And trust me, he doesn’t want you to quit. So he’ll keep throwing triggers your way.

That’s why we must stay alert.

🛡️ The difference between someone still struggling and someone walking in victory is preparation.

The struggler says:

“Why do I feel this way?”

But the person walking in truth says:

“I know this moment. I’ve been here before.
And I’ve already decided—I’m not going back.”

📌 Think about this:

How can you prepare ahead, so you’re ready and not surprised?

What little habits in your day might be tied to old sins?

When are you most likely to be caught off guard by temptation?

🙏🏽 Prayer
Jesus, open my eyes to the small things that pull me down.
