But you win triggers by going through them. Kindly read that again

See, I used to dread my triggers. I hated that feeling in my stomach, that tension in my chest. I just wanted to avoid them, run from them, escape them. But then something shifted when I had a conversation with a doctor friend of mine.

I asked him genuinely, “How do you do it? “Do what?”, he asked. How do you wake up not knowing what kind of crazy day you may have? One minute you could be sitting at your desk in the hospital, and the next minute there could be an emergency that brings in a man whose leg needs to be amputated, or a child who stuck something in their nose. Doesn’t the uncertainty of your work scare you?”

He smiled and said something I’ll never forget.

“I get why it looks scary to you. But for me? When I hear about a new case, big or small, my body actually tingles with excitement. Because that’s the moment I get to put everything I’ve studied, everything I’ve trained for, into practice. And nothing compares to the joy of seeing someone healed.”

That answer shook me.

Because I realized—that’s the exact mindset I need to have when facing my triggers. Every temptation, every moment of tension, every stomach knot—it’s not the enemy. It’s the opportunity.
The opportunity to test what you’ve been learning. The opportunity to grow stronger. The opportunity to walk through a trigger and come out on the other side victorious.

Each time you overcome, you become one trigger stronger, and a trigger less. You teach your body and mind a new way of responding. You build spiritual muscle. And you start to walk in real freedom.

Don’t be too quick to avoid these moments, no, prepare for them. So just like a doctor scrubbing in for surgery. You go into your day saying, “Lord, I know temptations may come. But I’m ready. I’ve got your Word in my heart. I’ve got your Spirit by my side. Let’s go!”

📌 Think about this:

What would happen if you stopped dreading your triggers and started preparing for them?

What’s one trigger you faced recently that you could’ve responded to differently?

What truth are you going to walk into today?

📌 Let’s pray: Jesus, help me see my triggers differently. Let me no longer fear them, but face them with the mindset of victory. Remind me that I am not walking through this alone, that every moment is a chance to trust You and become stronger. I’m at peace because I know you will always make a way of escape.
