And the scary part? 95% of Christian men in recovery don’t even realize it’s happening. Here’s how it plays out.

You’re walking on the road, minding your business. Then you see a lady — maybe her cleavage is showing, or her shape catches your attention — and instantly, you feel this sudden urge to watch porn. You’re triggered.

But what you probably don’t realize is what your mind is doing in that moment. Without saying it out loud, this is what’s going on inside: “Wow. She’s beautiful. She’s revealing her cleavage. But she’s not mine. To have her would be a long journey. I’d have to talk to her, impress her, risk rejection. She’s not just going to give herself to me.”

And then your brain offers you a shortcut: “Why go through all that when there’s a better option with porn? There’s a better woman. Her body is even more flawless. She’s not teasing — she’s showing everything. I don’t have to talk to her. I don’t have to make her laugh. I don’t even have to be brave. She’s already waiting — and she’s all mine.”

This is the subconscious trick the devil plays with your mind. And until you realize that this is the real battle happening inside you, you’ll keep falling — not because you’re weak, but because you’re unaware. So how do you boycott this setup? You start before the temptation shows up.

In your recovery from porn addiction, before you leave the house — or even pick up your phone in the morning — you need to take a moment to pray and be real with God. Say something like: >

🙏🏽
God, I know I’ll likely see things today that could trigger me — but I receive Your strength. Help me to look away. Your Word says You will lead me along paths of righteousness. It says You won’t let me be tempted beyond what I can bear. So Father, make a way of escape — even if I come across something that tries to stir up lust. Help me to live vigilant. Help me to remember that my love for You is worth more than the satisfaction 30 seconds of orgasm could ever give me. Help me today, Lord.”

That’s how you win against the enemy’s tricks. Be prepared. Don’t be ignorant. The lustful things you stumble across aren’t always coincidences. They are calculated traps by the enemy Have a strategy. Have a hiding place, before the temptation comes. Bonus Tip. When you are praying, visualise your day, visualize yourself as a sheep, being led by the Good Shepherd Jesus, and visualize how he would lead you through.

Think about times in your day feelings of loneliness, tiredness, and stress could come upon you triggering you to want to watch porn, visualize the good shepherd, leading you away from that part, along the right part. Please make sure you do not leave your prayer times each day without seeing that you didn’t see a relapse in that day.
