I’ve asked it too. Every time I’d repent and fall again, I’d wonder if that was my last chance with God.

I knew what the Bible said about grace. I believed in assurance of salvation. I believed that if the trumpet of God sounded, I’d be raptured. But there was still a part of me that wondered, “am I really saved?”, ”if Jesus returned while I was in the act would I be left behind?”, ”how many chances do I get before my name got erased from the Book of Life?” Those thoughts plagued me.

I wasn’t asking because I wanted to remain addicted. I was asking because I wanted to please God but I just couldn’t see a way out. Freedom felt out of reach. So I needed to know how much of my sin God could take before He kicked me out of HIs family for good. What line did I need to cross before I was irredeemable?

These questions sent me on a quest to search through the Bible and what I discovered was radical and a key to unlocking my freedom.

People don’t get condemned to hell (eternal death, eternity without God) just because they sinned. People are condemned because of unbelief — a prideful rejection of Jesus Christ, the only one who came to save them.

I need you to realize that sin automatically leads to death. “The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23). And because we were born into sin, every single one of us, before we knew right from wrong were automatically on the path of death. That’s why Jesus came to die in our place. And now whosoever believes in his sacrifice will be saved from eternal death aka hell.

That’s why the Bible says,“ Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already…” (John 3:18). So ultimately, it’s not sin that sends people to hell. It’s the decision to not believe in the one who saves. Unbelief is saying, “Nah, I don’t think Jesus can help me” or, “His death wasn’t good enough to pay for this mess I’m in.”

Unbelief isn’t always some angry rebellion or clear-cut rejection of God. Sometimes it’s subtle. It’s when you stop believing God can help you. When you stop believing that His sacrifice covers your kind of sin. When you convince yourself that your struggle with porn is bigger than His grace. It’s saying through your actions (or your silence), “I’m too far gone for God to help me.” And that’s the real danger, not the fall, but the hopelessness.

So if after a fall you pick yourself up, you still feel convicted, still cry out to God, then you’re on the right path. It means you still believe, it means you still have faith that He is able to save you even from this.

Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

And that’s evidence that you’re not too far gone. Because the biggest proof that you’re still His is that you’re still responding to Him. And yes, your fruits of right living do matter. Jesus said we’ll know a tree by its fruit. But before the fruit comes the root. So at your root, do you have a desire for righteousness? Do you feel godly sorrow when you sin? Do you hear His voice calling you out of that mess? If you answered yes to any of these then God will never cast you away. You are not too far gone.

If porn is a sin, and Jesus died for my sins…But I keep falling…At what point am I no longer saved?
